5 Things Couples Forget in Their Wedding Planning (and How to Fix Them Fast)
Wedding planning is exciting — but let’s be real, it can also feel overwhelming. With so many moving parts, it’s easy to miss the little details that make a big difference on the big day. I’m Christina — a Muskoka/Simcoe wedding coordinator — and here are the five oversights I see most often (plus quick fixes you can use today).
1) A Realistic Timeline
Most couples underestimate how long things take — from hair & makeup to family photos. Build in 10–15 minute buffers between each part of the day to keep stress (and delays) down.
2) Who’s Bringing What
Create a simple “owner list” for crucial items (marriage license, rings, signage, décor, emergency kit). Next to each item, note who brings it and when it arrives. Share this with your point person/coordinator.
3) Vendor Meals
Your DJ, photographer, videographer, and coordinator work long hours. Many venues require vendor meals — it’s often forgotten until the week-of. Ask your venue/caterer about vendor meal counts and timing now.
4) Transportation (Arrival & Exit)
Couples plan how they arrive but forget how they’ll leave. Confirm the exit plan for you and your wedding party (plus who’s taking gifts/cards). It saves stress at the end of the night.
5) A Point Person (That Isn’t You)
On the day, you shouldn’t be answering “Where are the programs?” Assign a trusted friend or (better) a coordinator to manage questions, vendors, and timeline flow so you can actually enjoy your day.
