Affirming Wedding Planning for LGBTQ+ Couples

No assumptions about your relationship, your ceremony, or what your wedding is supposed to look like — just calm, capable support from the very first message.

If you’re an LGBTQ+ couple, you’ve probably had to explain your relationship to a vendor at some point — correct a pronoun, clarify who’s wearing what, or navigate a form that only had boxes for “bride” and “groom.” It gets old. You shouldn’t have to do that here.

I’m Christina, a Muskoka-based wedding planner and coordinator, and I work with LGBTQ+ couples across Muskoka, Simcoe County, and cottage country as a normal, central part of my business, not an add-on or a special accommodation. Whatever your wedding looks like, my job is to organize it with the same calm, thoughtful structure I bring to every couple I work with.

“As a queer couple, we felt understood right away. There were no weird assumptions, no awkward explanations, just support that felt safe and easy.”

What Affirming Support Actually Looks Like

  • No default assumptions. Not about who’s proposing, who’s walking down an aisle, who’s changing a name, or what your ceremony is supposed to include.
  • Language that matches who you are. Paperwork, timelines, and vendor communication use your names and pronouns, not generic wedding-industry defaults.
  • Vendor referrals you can trust. Where possible, I connect you with officiants, photographers, and other vendors in the area who are genuinely comfortable and experienced with LGBTQ+ weddings, not just tolerant of them.
  • Support with complicated family dynamics. If not everyone in your life is fully on board, I can help you plan a day that still feels like yours, with a calm plan for navigating those relationships.
  • A planner who’s already done this work. You won’t need to educate me about your relationship before we can get to the actual planning.

Built for Weddings That Don’t Follow the Usual Script

A lot of the couples I work with, LGBTQ+ and otherwise, are already planning something that skips the standard wedding template: micro weddings, backyard and cottage celebrations, elopements, second weddings, or weekday weddings. That mindset is built into how I plan every wedding — your day gets organized around what actually matters to you, not a script someone else wrote.

Common Questions

Do you work with LGBTQ+ couples?

Yes, without caveat. It’s a core part of the work I do, not a special accommodation.

Will we need to explain our relationship or educate you?

No. You’re welcome to share whatever context is genuinely useful for planning, but you won’t need to justify your relationship or ceremony to me.

Can you help us find other affirming vendors?

Yes. Where I can, I’ll point you toward officiants, photographers, and other local vendors who are genuinely comfortable and experienced with LGBTQ+ weddings.

What if our families aren’t fully supportive?

That’s more common than people think, and I can help you build a day and a guest plan that protects your peace, whatever that looks like for you.

What areas do you serve?

Muskoka, Simcoe County, and cottage country, including Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Orillia, Barrie, Midland, and Collingwood. Couples travelling from Toronto or the GTA are welcome too.
